Using olive wood as a soap dish is particularly advisable given the gravity that prevails everywhere in our homes, as the wood does not break immediately when it falls onto the tiles. 

Olive wood can withstand water for longer, and, it must be said, olive wood is really very good at this. It grows extremely slowly and is therefore very dense. One more thing about wood: it is and remains a natural material, so it can continue to change over the years—and sometimes crack. Our olive wood trays are not chemically washed after processing and, depending on the wood, may “bleed”—meaning that brown streaks may appear due to the wood washing out over a period of time that we cannot predict. Anyone who has used olive wood in its natural state is familiar with this.
It is important to us that both the wood and the people who process it come from Europe. The soap dishes are oiled for you after sanding. It looks nicer.
